In winter, raise the statue off the ground to prevent cracking, pooling, and frozen water from accumulating. Raising the statue a few inches allows the air to circulate around the cast stone, preventing freeze-thaw damage. Store the statue indoors if possible. If leaving it outside, cover the top with burlap, wrap it with dark plastic, and regularly check to ensure no water accumulates. Before the first freeze, raise, dry, and cover the statue.
